“Caracal Action Plan Workshop” was held in Bodrum, Muğla within the scope of “ Preparation, Implementation and Monitoring of Species Action Plans for Endangered Species in Turkey within the Concept of a New Methodology”. A workshop has been organized to develop a Species Action Plan for the caracal; a wild cat distributed in Antalya, Burdur, Denizli, Aydın and Muğla provinces. The workshop will continue with group work to determine the specific targets, activities, and responsible institutions and organizations involved in the implementation of the plan.
“Caracal Action Plan Workshop” was held in Muğla within the scope of ” Preparation, Implementation and Monitoring of Species Action Plans for Endangered Species in Turkey within the Concept of a New Methodology”. The opening speech of the workshop was delivered by the 4th Regional Director Adil Şencan and GDNCNP Muğla Regional Director Ömer Kahraman. They emphasized the importance collaborative efforts of relevant institutions, organizations, and non-governmental organizations in increasing the presence of wildlife in the region. Furthermore, they expressed their hopes for the workshop to be productive and beneficial for all participants and the country as a whole.
The first sessions of the workshop consisted of presentations by the project stakeholders. These presentations covered several topics including general information, the significance of Species Action Plan, the list of endangered mammal species, renewal of the methodology of Species Action Plans, the importance of species at national and international levels, their contribution to the national economy, inventory studies on species, identification of key or umbrella species, and a Q&A session where participants could ask questions and make contributions. A workshop has been organized to develop a Species Action Plan for the Caracal; a wild cat distributed in Antalya, Burdur, Denizli, Aydın and Muğla provinces within Türkiye. The workshop continued with group work that determined the specific targets, activities, and responsible institutions and organizations involved in the implementation of the plan. The final report of the workshop was prepared, and the outputs of the project carried out by the General Directorate of NCNP will be shared with the relevant parties during the trainings and other activities in the final phase of the project.
