1. MAMMAL and HERPETOFAUNA EXPERT GROUP WORKSHOP – The first workshop on Identifying Risky Species and Completing Information Deficiencies completed.

Within the framework of the “Preparation, Implementation and Monitoring of Species Action Plans for Endangered Species in Turkey within the Concept of a New Methodology” Project managed by the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and with the financial support of the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance II (IPAII), the workshops aiming to combine population, distribution, threat and protection needs with up-to-date information on the status of different taxonomic groups in Turkey were held on the online platform on June 15-17 with intense participation.

107 people, including representatives of the central and local units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, as well as experts, specialists and academicians in the field of herpetofauna (reptiles/amphibians) and mammal species and species protection on a national scale, participated in the workshop organized within the scope of the project.

During the 3-day workshop with an intense content, the endangered species of herpetofauna (reptiles/amphibians) and mammalian species in Turkey were defined. With the studies to be carried out on the identified species, the natural areas of the living things will be protected and reports on the processes required for the continuation of the species will be prepared. In the workshops that will continue during the project, solutions that will be effective in protecting wild species will be investigated and conclusions will be drawn. After the protection activities, the project will have achieved its main goals by informing the citizens.
